No plot spoilers here, only fashion. This season of The White Lotus takes us to Thailand for the wellness version of the luxury resort. It’s resort wear overload with two characters capturing our attention: free spirit Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood) and Southern matriarch Victoria (Parker Posey). Hats off to The White Lotus costume designer Alex Bovaird. We’re going to take a deep dive into Chelsea’s style first with a focus on one piece in particular.
Chelsea’s Silk Coverup
When I spied Chelsea’s ethereal silk coverup on episode 4, I thought to myself, “That’s gotta be The Silk Farm.” So, I started searching and this article on Femestella led me to The Zoo Boutique’s Instagram where the dress was sourced. Vintage for the win! According to the shop owner it’s a one-off vintage; however, it sparked a feverish search for Silk Farm by Icinoo and I found some pieces that fit the bill — like this The Silk Farm blouse from the Arcade Shops that has already sold. Great minds! Also found the JW Anderson Rainbow Shopper Tote.
I first stumbled upon The Silk Farm by Icinoo when I found the dress below at a St. Vinny’s in Wisconsin for $6.99. It was love at first sight! It’s an ethereal dress that can read sophisticated and boho depending on styling. Of course, I styled with Reeboks here because it was a vintage market day and I was very into my yellow Reeboks at that time (c. 2019).
The Silk Farm pieces are boho, romantic, and feminine and you can style them to suit your needs. You can find the shift mini dress style similar to Chelsea’s, an ethereal gown for an evening event, a boho day dress that you can style over jeans or with boots, or a shirt dress you can throw a blazer over. You can find these in multiple sizes and price points, so there really is something for every age, size, and style. Prices vary too, so you can find a bargain or invest in a splurge.
I’ve rounded up some of my favorite The Silk Farm dresses from around the internet, along with some Chelsea-inspired accessories.
The Silk Farm shift mini dress ($49.99). This is the same silhouette as Chelsea’s, but with a metallic floral print. Looks chic on and off the beach. Plus the price is a steal.
Chelsea would never leave home without a crocheted bag and this Clare V. Sandy Crochet Tote from Anthropologie ($145) is perfect for lazing by the pool or visiting a snake exhibit (oops — I promised no spoilers!)
The Silk Farm sheer chiffon dress ($298.95). I love a dress with dramatic sleeves and I could see my myself swanning around a luxury resort in this beauty and feeling like million bucks.
The Silk Farm cherry blossom printed chiffon dress ($398). Arcade Shops has a great collection of The Silk Farm dresses and this dress is no exception. What a stunner! This is one you could wear to a formal event. The sleeves! The sleeves!
Vintage Aries charm necklace ($80). Chelsea is an Aries, so this brass charm necklace from the 1970s adds the perfect boho touch to any outfit. The Etsy shop has the other Zodiac signs, so you can find yours.
The Silk Farm gold floral dress ($250). Another dress with great sleeves! This one has stunning floral details. Would look great with the zodiac charm from #5.
Another beautiful woven bag for a day of vacation shopping. The Isabel Marant Small Raffia shoulder bag ($595) adds a textural contrast to the silk.
Sheer vintage The Silk Farm dress ($150). This would make a stunning beach cover up, but I also love the idea of layering it over a camisole and jeans. The fabric and colors are so vibrant!
The Silk Farm dress with side pleating ($50). At first glance, this dress is not as over the top, but to see how the dress is draped and pleated at the side shows the dress in a whole new light. Again, this one would look lovely over a swimsuit, but this one could be fun with a blazer or over jeans.
Stay tuned for part 2 where we take a deep dive into the wardrobe of Victoria (Parker Posey). Until then!
